National Ilan University (NIU), along with nine other prestigious universities from Taiwan, took part in the Higher Education Summit and Education Exhibition held in India, organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). The event highlighted global trends in higher education, innovation, and international collaboration.

Taiwan has been a global leader in the semiconductor industry, and the Indian government’s recent initiatives to develop its semiconductor ecosystem create a timely opportunity for academic exchange. Recognizing this, Mr. Mumin Chen, Representative of TECC, highlighted the strategic importance of education in fostering bilateral ties.

“India is making remarkable progress in developing its semiconductor industry,” said Mr. Chen. “While infrastructure is critical, nurturing talent is even more vital. Taiwan’s universities offer a wide range of advanced programs in semiconductors, AI, and emerging technologies. By aligning our educational offerings with India’s development goals, we can attract top Indian students to study in Taiwan.”

NIU was represented by Professor C.T. Wang, a distinguished professor and former Director of the Science & Technology Division at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center (TECC) in India. With deep insight into India’s educational landscape, Professor Wang emphasized the strong interest Indian students have in semiconductor-related fields—a sector where Taiwan excels.

“Today, IT doesn’t just stand for Information Technology,” said Professor Wang. “It represents a growing collaboration between India and Taiwan. With shared interests in semiconductors, AI, drones, and other cutting-edge technologies, the potential for academic and industrial cooperation is immense.”

The Taiwanese delegation’s participation in the exhibition showcased Taiwan’s commitment to global educational cooperation and its readiness to support India’s growing need for advanced technical education. With strong governmental and institutional support, Taiwan aims to be a preferred destination for Indian students seeking world-class education in science and technology.
